FishTree Environmental Technologist, based in Kimberley, BC, is a sole proprietorship providing insured, technician-level services in Biology, Forestry, and Arboriculture. The company was founded in response to a growing need for skilled, field-ready technologists—especially in situations where hiring full-time technical staff isn’t practical or cost-effective. We offer short- and long-term support for clients who want access to high-quality technical expertise without the burden of in-house hiring and training.

While we specialize in Fisheries, Timber Development, and a variety of chainsaw and on-site environmental services, FishTree has extensive experience managing and executing projects across a wide range of natural resource disciplines. We also provide project management services, drawing on a background of coordinating numerous small- to medium-scale provincial government projects.

At FishTree, our focus is delivering reliable, practical technical expertise that drives successful environmental and resource-based outcomes. As a sole proprietorship, we maintain low overhead, carry straightforward insurance, and can easily travel to your job site—allowing us to offer competitive day rates or fixed-fee project pricing. We are also fully equipped to subcontract for larger organizations.

Fish and Wildlife

I bring over 15 years of field experience, supported by a fully equipped service truck with VHF radio, small lake boat, quad, snowmobile, and a full range of angling and sampling gear. I am highly competent in the use of nets, electrofishing equipment, boats, and firearms for fish and wildlife field operations.

In addition to fieldwork, I am experienced in data collection, analysis, and technical reporting, with the ability to clearly communicate findings in a professional and defensible manner.

Forestry Operations and Layout

I developed my foundation in forest harvest layout on Northern Vancouver Island, working with paper maps, compass, and clinometer. Since then, I have led full-area development projects in both Alberta and British Columbia, with strong proficiency in timber reconnaissance, road design, timber cruising, abundance and evaluation, and operational layout.

I am experienced in laying out harvest areas for conventional, grapple yarding, heli, and tethered operations. My background in fish and wildlife allows me to identify sensitive areas and habitat features that may be overlooked by technicians without multidisciplinary field experience.

Slashing, Burning, Tree Removal, and Basic Chainsaw works
